Born in the year 1980 on 7th November, James Edward Charles Franklin is a former player in the New Zealand men’s cricket team. He participated in all forms of the game and played as an all-rounder for the team. He is a left-handed batsman and bowled with the left hand in a medium fast pacer.

Domestic Career

When James Franklin started his career he played as a lower order batsman, but gradually his game improved and with time he was promoted to the middle order of the team. He played actively in the county cricket for teams like Gloucestershire, Essex, Glamorgan, and Middlesex. He also represented team Enniskillen at the domestic level till the end season of 2018.

International career

Talking about his International career, James Franklin made his test cricketing debut on March 2001 against Pakistan. He played his first ODI against Zimbabwe in January 2001. For the T20 format of the game, his first match was against West Indies on February 2006. He played in the Indian Premier League as well for Mumbai Indians in the fourth season. He played around 31 test matches and 110 ODI matches, where he scored 808 and 1270 runs respectively.

He also took around 80 wickets for both the formats of the game. He is one of the two players of the New Zealand international cricket team who have a hat trick in a Test cricket match. His hat trick was against Bangladesh in the year 2004 and the other New Zealand player to have achieved this is Peter Patherick. James Franklin also holds another record, which is the highest batting striking rate in a World Cup match. He scored 31 runs in 8 balls with an amazing striking rate of 387.50. He retired from the New Zealand cricket team, which included all the formats of the game in the year 2013.
