The Liverpool club a.k.a The Reds, founded 127 years ago on 3rd June 1892 is a professional football club in Liverpool, England. They participate in the top tier of English football which is the English Premier League. They also participate in FA Cup, EFL Cup and UEFA Super Cup.

History

The formation of the club was the result of a dispute between the Everton committee and John Houlding, club president and owner of the land at Anfield which in later years became the home ground of the club.

The dispute was over the rent resulted in Everton moving to Goodison Park, leaving Houlding with an empty stadium. Originally named “Everton F.C and Athletic Grounds Ltd.” the club in March 1892 gained his official recognition as Liverpool F.C.

Tom Watson became the first manager of the club in 1896 and took the club to consolidate their position in the Football League following its promotion to the First Division. Under Tom Watson, the club won its first League Championship in 1901.

Club Ownership

The Club Ownership is currently in the hands of an American sports company Fenway Sports Group which also acts as the parent company of Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox. Founded in 2001 as New England Sports Ventures, the company owned Liverpool on 6th October 2010 for 300 Million Euros.

The ownership landed in their hands also because of having a relationship with the English Soccer Club Fulham F.C as partners in the past.

Currently, Liverpool is the world’s eighth most valuable football club, with an estimated net worth of being around 2.183 Billion Dollars. It is also one of the most widely supported teams in the world. Tom Werner an American producer and businessman is the chairman of Liverpool Football Club.
